According to the British Psychological Society, Transpersonal Psychology “might loosely be called the psychology of spirituality and of those areas of the human mind which search for higher meanings in life, and which move beyond the limited boundaries of the ego to access an enhanced capacity for wisdom, creativity, unconditional love and compassion. It honors the existence of transpersonal experiences, and is concerned with their meaning for the individual and with their effect upon behavior.” It also “ combines a variety of approaches in psychology, including behaviorism, cognitive psychology and humanistic psychology, along with other disciplines, including Eastern and Western philosophy, mysticism, mindfulness and the world’s religions.” To read more about Transpersonal Psychology, click here.

Hypnosis

“The term "hypnosis" comes from the ancient Greek word ύπνος hypnos, "sleep", and the suffix -ωσις -osis, or from ὑπνόω hypnoō, "put to sleep" (stem of aorist hypnōs-) and the suffix -is.” (wikipedia.org). “Contrary to popular belief, humans stay completely awake during hypnosis. In fact, the average person enters a hypnotic state twice a day without even realizing it. Hypnosis can be used to ease pain, treat autoimmune disease, block memories, and break bad habits. ” -Psychology Today.

As a certified hypnotherapist, I use hypnosis to help treat various issues such as depression, anxiety, fears/phobias, weight loss, smoking cessation, and trauma. To read more about hypnotherapy, click here.

Inner-Child

What is Inner-Child work? “The term inner child of course does not imply that there is a little child living inside of you, or that part of you brain is delegated solely to childish thoughts! The general idea is that we all have a childlike aspect within our unconscious mind.  The inner child can be seen as a ‘subpersonality’, a side of your character that can take over when you are faced with a challenge.

The inner child reflects the child we once were in both his or her ‘negative’ and ‘positive’ aspects. Both our unmet needs and suppressed childhood emotions, as well as our childlike innocence, creativity, and joy, are still waiting within of us. ‘

The idea is that accessing your inner child allows you to find the roots of your issues as an adult.”

Inner child work can help with the following:

  • discovering and releasing repressed emotions holding you back

  • helping you recognise your unmet needs

  • assisting to resolve unhelpful patterns

  • offering an opportunity for increased self-care

  • helping you be creative and playful

  • raising your self-respect.
